New Meeting Place!
Hello Glenn Young Adults!
We are now meeting in the Glenn Education building, in room 304, the “Dolphin” room! We’re just down the hall from the little chapel, and across the hall from the parlor.
We still meet on Sundays at 9:45 am, so we hope to see you there!
This video is a great reminder of what Advent is all about. I can’t wait to read their Advent calendar everyday. Only sad thing is…you can’t peek ahead! I guess we just have to be patient and go one day at a time!
December Adventures and January 2012 Move
Ready for Caroling??? We are!!
December 11, 2011, we will be having…
Sunday School at Panera in Emory Village, 9:45 am
Caroling with Glenn Youth and SPARK elementary 4th and 5th graders-2/2:30 pm
and having a potluck dinner around 7 pm!
More details on the caroling-We’ll meet at 2 pm at the YAAB to carpool, or you can meet everyone at Budd Terrace at Wesley Woods (Clifton Road) at 2:30 pm. After caroling, around 3:30 pm, we’re invited to go to the open Parsonage with David and Cathy Jones for some cookies and hot chocolate!
After a little afternoon rest and fetching of dishes, we’ll reconvene for a Christmas Dinner at a yet to be announced location.
In January, we will be moving from Panera to classroom 304 in the Education Building of Glenn. It is the classroom nearest to the Chapel, and just up the stairs from the Fellowship Hall. Our first meeting will be January 8th (there will be no Sunday School on January 1st because it’s New Year’s Day), and we will have Panera coffee and pastries to welcome us!
We will provide snacks and coffee each week, but feel free to bring any other fancy food you grabbed on the way (don’t be afraid to flaunt your Dunkin’s or Starbucks– we’ll understand).
We look forward to seeing everyone in December and in the new year!
Good Neighbor Day
Fall 2011 Young Adult Happenings
We are still meeting at the Emory Village Panera at 9:45 a.m. We usually meet in the back, so grab a pastry and come join us! We might be moving to a classroom in January (yay!), so please check the Facebook group or this blog periodically to stay updated.
Our most recent outing was Good Neighbor Day, on September 10th, 2011. Several of the young adults helped clean up at Burbanck Park, in Emory Village. We hope to do at least one more volunteer activity before the end of the year.
Clayton and Tamsyn Vertrees usually trade leadership duties, but we are also inviting group members to volunteer to lead some Sundays. Just let Tamsyn know which week(s) are good for you to lead, the topic you’re interested in leading, and she’ll let you know if it works with the group schedule!
We will announce a Fall Gathering of Thanks soon, and we hope to go ice skating in the next few months as well! Email tamsynvertrees@hotmail.com for any information or ideas.
Ice Skating!
We will meet at Glenn at 2ish pm, outside near the little amphitheater
between the sanctuary and the church school building. After we figure out carpooling, we’ll be off! The trip to Conyers from Glenn is about 40 minutes. here’s the place
The skate fee is $7, and skate rental is $2. The website says they take cash, credit and debit. We’ll stay until everyone is tired out (I predict no more than two hours), then we can eat an early dinner together if everyone is interested.
Hope to see everyone there!
